Oprah Winfrey’s home is for sale. According to Architectural Digest Oprah recently listed this Illinois home for just $393,875. Oprah first purchased the house in 2001. It has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and features two wood-burning fireplaces.

The traditional style home boats some lovely details yet is currently empty save for a few window treatments. As a result, through an analysis of Oprah’s home and a mood-board, I’ll show you how I would utilize home staging to modernize and brighten the space and get Oprah’s home ready for sale.

The Home Staging Game Plan:

When it comes to staging Oprah Winfrey’s house we want to take advantage of the home’s neutral color palette. As a result, we can highlight the home’s lovely natural light in order to accentuate its square footage (since its is a closed floorpan). This tact will also highlight the home’s architectural details. Neutral color furniture will go a long way and we’ll add a color highlights via the decor accents.

The Home Staging Reveal:

Oprah's Illinois House

A really neutral, cream based palette – the sofa and side chair are both a cream. This will exaggerate the visual square footage in the home and and make the house feel bigger even though it’s not an open plan. Since the house is traditional, we wanted to maintain that overall feeling while still appealing to today’s design tastes which we’ve done with cultural decor (bamboo side tables, rattan basket, etc).
